Share a memory of Oven Marvel
This archive is thin in places, and you might hold the missing piece: the year it opened, a photo you took, a receipt in an old wallet. Here is how to send it.

Quick answer
To share an Oven Marvel memory, email hello@ovenmarvel.com with what you remember, roughly when, and whether we may publish it and under what name. Photos you took yourself, receipts and dated details are especially welcome. Nothing is published without your permission, and reader memories are always marked as reader-supplied.
Why does this page exist?
Because the public record of Oven Marvel has holes, and some of them can only be filled by people who were there. Nobody has published the year the shop opened, the date it changed its name from Delicious Muffins, what the sign looked like, or what the owners said when they closed. I have listed every gap on what we know and what we do not. If you can fill one, I would love to hear from you.
There are no reader memories on this site yet. I would rather leave this page empty than invent them.
How do I send a memory?
By email, to hello@ovenmarvel.com. There is no form, account or upload button, on purpose: no data collected by a website, just an email you control.
A useful message includes:
- What you remember. The pie, the queue, the bag, the smell, the price you paid, the day it ran out before you got there.
- Roughly when. A year is perfect. “When I was working nearby, around 2015” is fine.
- How you know. Did you eat there often? Once? Did you work in the building?
- Permission. Say whether I may publish it, and how you would like to be credited: full name, first name, initials, or not at all.
What kinds of memories help most?
| If you have | It could help with |
|---|---|
| A photo you took of the shop or a pie, with a date | Signage, packaging, the size and shape of the pie |
| An old receipt or price you wrote down | Filling gaps in the price history |
| A memory of the shop before 2009 | The opening year, which nobody has published |
| A memory of the rename from Delicious Muffins | Dating the change, currently “between 2009 and 2013” |
| A memory of the last weeks in 2022 | The final trading day |
| Detail about the filling, especially corn | Settling the corn question for the recreation |
What will happen to my email?
I will read it, reply if you would like a reply, and do one of three things with your permission:
- Publish it on a future reader-memories section, marked clearly as reader-supplied, credited the way you asked.
- Use it to check a fact, without quoting you, perhaps changing a “we could not confirm” to a “a reader who worked nearby remembers”.
- Keep it private, if that is what you prefer. Some memories are just nice to have been told.
Reader memories will never be presented as sourced facts. A memory, however vivid, sits in a different box from a dated review.
What will never be published?
- Anything without your permission.
- Personal details about Chef Johnny Ngiam, the family or anyone who worked in the shop, beyond what they themselves have made public.
- Claims about why the shop closed that go beyond what has been reported.
- Photos you did not take yourself.
- Anything that is really an advert for another business.
Are you connected to the shop?
If you are part of the Oven Marvel family, or worked there, thank you for every pie. If you would like anything on this site corrected, changed or removed, please email and say so. Your wishes come first.
A note on privacy
Emails are not shared or sold, and there is no mailing list. The address hello@ovenmarvel.com exists only to receive memories and corrections for this site. Who writes the site, and how, is explained on the about page.
Questions people ask
Will my memory appear on the site straight away?
No. Every submission is read first, and nothing is published without your explicit permission. Some memories will help correct or confirm a fact quietly without being quoted at all.
Can I stay anonymous?
Yes. Tell us how you would like to be credited: full name, first name, initials or not at all.
Can I send photos?
Yes, if you took them yourself and are happy for them to be shown. Please do not send photos copied from blogs or social media; link to them instead.
